Why this card

Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card for hotels in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Cortina hosted alpine and ice events at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in February 2026, and the village is in a post-Games tourism surge expected to run through 2028. Cristallo, a Luxury Collection Resort and Spa is the only marquee chain property in the village (Marriott Luxury Collection brand), and it sits steps from the Olympic ice stadium. Hotel Tofana (opened December 2024) is a new ski-in five-star independent that is on Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts.

6 points per dollar at Marriotts, Platinum status, 85,000-point free night certificate annually

Cristallo Luxury Collection prices most nights between 70,000 and 95,000 points against $1,200 to $1,800 cash on a ski-week date, which puts the 85K free night cert almost exactly on top of a winter Saturday. Platinum upgrades to a Dolomite-view room save a real $200 a night against the room rate sheet. The post-Olympics surge is pushing winter 2026 to 2027 cash rates 30 to 40 percent above their pre-Games baseline, and points rates have only partially followed, so this is the rare moment where the math on a chain redemption is materially better than it was two years ago.

Alternative: The Platinum Card from American Express.

Hotel Tofana, Faloria Mountain Spa Resort, and the Miramonti Majestic are all on Fine Hotels and Resorts. Upgrade plus breakfast for two plus a $100 property credit on a $1,400 cash night is a tangible discount that the Marriott card cannot match outside Cristallo. Use this if you want the new boutique properties rather than the classic chain stay.

Not the right card for hotels in Cortina d'Ampezzo: World of Hyatt Credit Card.

Hyatt has no Cortina property. The closest Hyatt is in Venice, two and a half hours by car, which is useless for ski-week logistics.

Local tip

What to know before you book.

Cortina has only three hotels with more than 100 rooms, which means inventory is brutally tight in peak ski weeks (mid-December, Christmas, mid-February, Carnival). Book 6 to 9 months out for the 2026 to 2027 season or expect to land in the Hotel Tofana or the Radisson Collection Grand Hotel Savoia as the only remaining options at the higher tiers. The Olympic glow has also brought a billion-dollar refresh of gondolas, restaurants, and ski buses that is permanent infrastructure now, not temporary Games kit.
